Bodegas Protos

Peñafiel, Valladolid (Spain) - 2008

The new, modern winery of Bodegas Protos in Peñafiel (Valladolid). The 4-storey building has a triangular floor plan of about 15,000 m². Its main feature is the structure which supports the roof which is formed by five interconnected parabolic vaults, supported by large laminated wood and cladded with large format terracotta arches pieces in order to create a lightweight, articulated structure.

Bellapart carried out different work on each of the building’s floors: the cellar, the mezzanine, the production floor and the access floor; emphasising the aluminium and glass curtain wall cladding system under arches supported by stainless steel brackets, which form the perimeter of the building, providing an incredible sensation of light. It is also worth mentioning the installation of 2 doors integrated in the façade and hydraulically operated to facilitate the entry of grapes from the outside of the building to the inside of the wineries. On the other floors of the building different aluminium and glass curtain walls were installed and different stainless steel cladding systems with sliding doors as partitions between departments were constructed.
